Friends: Johnny Chuck is his very best friend, and Jimmy Skunk, Unc' Billy Possum, Prickly Porky, Jumper the Hare, Mr. Mocker, Bob White, Bobby Coon and Jerry Muskrat are his friends. Family: Mrs. Peter is his mate, who worries when he overstays, and he has babies of his own. Hunters and dangers: Reddy Fox, Granny Fox, Old Man Coyote, Bowser the Hound, Shadow the Weasel and Black Cat hunt him, Farmer Brown's boy snares him, and the Yellow Jackets sting him.

• He runs lipperty-lipperty-lip, stopping every few minutes to sit up, look and listen.
